Nigel Williams’ dramatic adaptation of William Golding’s Lord of the Flies launches Cardinal Stage’s 2013-2014 season and the College of Arts and Science’s Themester 2013: Connectedness: Networks in a Complex World.
A plane crashes on an uninhabited island. The only survivors are a group of school boys.  With no schools and no rules, the boys’ fragile sense of order begins to collapse. With the discovery of the “beast,” their games take on a more sinister significance as the networks and connections that constitute civil society dissolve with devastating consequences.

Lord of the Flies raises a number of issues central to the lives of today’s adolescents – peer pressure, bullying, gang rivalry – in its depiction of the precariousness of social order.
