Themester 2019 has posted its list of fall courses. Inspired by the 2019-2020 celebration of Indiana University’s Bicentennial, this fall’s theme will explore and interrogate issues of remembering and forgetting.
Courses are drawn from throughout the College of Arts and Sciences. This fall's courses include FOLK-F 225 Forms of Commemoration, AMST-A 201 The Legacy of Lynching, and MSCH-V 334 Remembering and Forgetting Political Media Messages.
As part of the liberal arts tradition, Themester courses encourage students to question critically, think logically, communicate clearly, act creatively, and live ethically. Students report that Themester courses and events allow them to understand how topics can be approached from different perspectives. Themester challenges them to consider the complexity of a topic beyond their initial assumptions.
Registration for fall 2019 courses will begin this month.
