Podcast Host and Producer

Time commitment

  • Approximately 60 to 70 hours total during summer, May to August with some required planning and brainstorming meetings in April

Qualifications

  • Strong academic or persional interest in the Themester 2022's focus on "Identity and Identification"
  • Strong writing and observational skills
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to see a project to its conclusion
  • Ability to think creatively to solve problems and generate ideas
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment with peers, staff, and faculty
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Experience with recording and editing software or interest and ability to learn on the job (training is not provided)
  • Preference given to College of Arts and Sciences majors and minors

Duties + responsibilities

Duties include the following:

  • Reviewing and learning from a selection of past Themester podcast episodes
  • Collaborating with other interns
  • Attending regular check-in meetings with College staff through the summer
  • Researching guests and writing questions
  • Corresponding and coordinating with College staff and faculty
  • Interviewing faculty guests
  • Learning how to use audio editing software, if not already known
  • Editing interviews
  • Creating content for web presence
  • Creating content for social media and other promotion of the podcast

Compensation

The Themester internship is a paid internship with an hourly rate of $12 an hour.
