The Aids Memorial Quilt

The Aids Memorial Quilt

When: November 10 through November 12, 2022, 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Where: Alumni Hall and Solarium, Indiana Memorial Union

Sections of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, a 54-ton tapestry, are coming back to Indiana University. You will have the opportunity to tour sections of the Quilt, which represents over 110,000 individuals who have died of AIDS. Each day campus and community prevention teams will be present for you to ask questions and learn about HIV/AIDS, prevention best practices, and receive free HIV testing.

As you tour the Quilt, take a walk-through history to learn about the AIDS crisis from a local and national perspective. The Jacob School of Music will be performing pieces from The AIDS Quilt Songbook each day at 5pm. On the first day, there will be a panel on HIV from a global perspective (Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and Africa) at 7pm, followed by a drag show on the second day at 7pm, and ending with a workshop about discriminatory HIV laws in Indiana at 3pm.
