“As we strive to control the forces of nature, it has become clear that our collective actions have been steadily eating away at the foundations of biological resilience, says Dr. Roger Hangarter, IU Distinguished Professor and Class of 1968 Chancellor's Professor. “We now find ourselves at a point where our planetary ecosystem, and the humans that inhabit it, are in jeopardy.”
In response to the ever-increasing threat, Dr. Hangarter, a biologist and nature photographer will offer four-part series of presentations on the need for biodiversity. Our basic daily needs, from the food we eat to the air we breathe, are all reliant on biodiversity. Dr. Hangarter will be using his own photography in order to describe the basic principles of biodiversity that make it inherently resilient. The presentation series will kick off this month and will take place on the following dates:
